These tasty gingerbread people are a classic holiday cookie. Decorate with any of your favourite sweet treats.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup butter (room temp)
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 egg, separated
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tbsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp all spice
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 8-10 drops food colouring
Instructions:

preheat oven to 350, grease cookie sheet

beat the butter & sugar together until light and creamy. Add molasses and egg yolk and beat until combined.

mix flour, ground ginger, all spice and baking soda in a separate bowl

add flour mixture to butter mixture and stir until mixed.

knead dough until smooth. cover with wrap and put in the fridge for 30 minutes.

meanwhile, beat egg white in clean bowl until stiff peaks form. divide for each colour.

once chilled, roll dough and cut out shapes.

bake for 10 mins. cool, decorate & serve.
